Very cool exhibit about the cost of nuclear testing. The boat is an interesting artifact. Well worth a visit.
It was a strange coincidence that exactly today August 6th we had the idea to visit this museum. It wasn’t planned at all, our family was going somewhere else.
The nuclear is evil and everyone knows by now how dangerous it can be. The museum mostly focus on the Daigo Fukuryumaru Boat incident that had a tragic end but in fact I really think that the information should be reunited and expanded to other situations. It’s really important that people learn about it.
Thank you for this place. Plenty of info in English.
The arquitetural structure of the building and its surroundings makes it a very interesting place.
A small museum dedicated to preserving the Daigo Fukuryumaru and offering information about it and the people who were affected by the Atomic Bomb Testing that it was involved in.
It has a lot of information about the ship after the incident and that was interesting to see.
Some explanations are in english, enough that I think this is worth visiting if you have any interest in the event or the history of the ship itself.
My thanks to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and to the many contributors and visitors to this fine symbol of hope and peace for the future. My wife and I lived in Majuro, the capital of the Marshall Islands, for a few years as well as on a tiny island, Guegeegue, in the Kwajalein Atoll, a place where the United States maintains a military base. My love is real for the Marshallese and Japanese people, as well as for those many good American folks, who continue to speak out against the evil that is nuclear weaponry.
Daigo Fukuryu Maru
Unfortunately, not much about this in English on the internet. A fantastic exhibition hall offering information about the tragic legacy of the H-Bomb tests thoughout the Pacific - particularly the story of Lucky Dragon Number 5 fishing boat that was caught in the radioactive fallout.
Most of the exhibition is in Japanese, however the most important information has be translated - I would recommend google translate photo app for the rest. It does have a selection of affordable books written in English if you want more information.
It is free and well worth a trip and easily accessible from the Tokyo metro.
Interesting place to learn about a real life example on the dangers of nuclear weapons testing
It's free of cost and it takes about an hour to see around.
We must know about damages of the atomic bomb experiments for Daigo (No5) Fukuryumaru .
Now also explanations in English .
